- Attending Premier’s Iftar dinner

An incredible evening celebrating community, faith, and diversity!

UMSLV president Arfa Khan was honoured to attend the Premier’s Iftar dinner, joining 800+ leaders, parliamentarians, faith and community members from across Victoria. Premier Jacinta Allan’s message of support and solidarity with Muslim communities resonated deeply – no more empty acknowledgments, it’s time for action.

Rana Hussain’s tough questions sparked important conversations, and Minister Ingrid Stitt shared practical strategies to tackle inequality and boost social cohesion.

The real highlight was Yaqub Hashi, a 23yo Muslim Somali-Australian uni student, who shared his inspiring story of growing up in the public housing towers of North Melbourne with so much passion and generosity. His courage and honesty in sharing his personal journey of belief and belonging left the room in awe . Azmeen, our awesome MC, kept things running smoothly, and all the speakers and presenters brought their best.

Ramadan Mubarak to all those observing – may the remaining days be filled with peace and blessings for the community.
